UK singer-songwriter Beth De Bacci releases her latest EP, The Human Experience, via Extreme Music, following on the heels of her 2022 EP, Monster In Me.
Talking about The Human Experience, Beth says; “I wanted to write something pure, emotional and to explore the light and dark of everything that we experience as humans.’’
The EP takes listeners on an emotional journey through the human experience, from the highs of drunk crushes on “Sober (Only For You)” to the effort of letting go on “New Place, New Moment.”
A classically trained pianist, Beth’s sound blends her gift on the piano with bright pop textures, including synths, guitars, and finessed drums, into irresistible music.
Working closely with Madding Crowd (Scouting For Girls, The Hoosiers, Billy Lockett) and written and produced with Brookfield, The Human Experience reveals the complex layers of Beth’s understanding of what it feels like to be human.
Encompassing four tracks, the EP begins with “Sober (Only For You),” which opens on an expressive piano flowing into a carefree buoyant rhythm topped by fizzy pop colors as Beth’s evocative voice imbues the lyrics with poignant, quixotic flavors.
“Would you love me when we’re sober / ‘Cause when the night is over / I’m gonna need some closure / You know that I will.”
A personal favorite because of its intimate vulnerability, “Get To Know Ya” unveils the very human desire for connection, showcasing Beth’s deliciously nuanced timbres, stirring up authentic susceptibility.
The soft, glittering intro to “Leave Me Behind” rolls into rumbling-lite drums supporting coruscating washes of emerging pop savors. At once charming and tender, Beth’s vocals infuse the lyrics with gentle longing.
“Don’t leave me in the distance / You feel so far away / And I could try to fix this / But I don’t think you’d stay.”
The final track, “New Place, New Moment,” travels on a low-slung melancholic piano as sorrowful strings sweep across the backdrop. Drenched in sad tones, Beth’s voice gives the song cap-a-pie sensitive warmth.
