EXCLUSIVE: Bianca Ryan chats to CelebMix about ‘Remember’

Bianca Ryan is back with her first single of 2018, ‘Remember’. The gifted singer, who released her new song through her own record label Bianca Ryan Records, reflects on her journey in the music industry. In an interview with CelebMix, Bianca talks about ‘Remember’, the beauty of musical imperfections, and the future.

Hi Bianca! What have you been up to since we spoke to you back in December?
Wow! It’s been crazy since My Broadway debut! I just released a new single titled ‘Remember.’ I’m so happy for this song to finally be available for the public to hear! I wrote this new song about my journey in this industry and growing up and finding myself throughout this crazy journey.

What’s the story behind your new single ‘Remember’?
This song is about my journey in this industry and growing up and going back to school and finding myself. It’s about how if I could go back and “right my wrongs” how I would do things differently. You don’t get that chance though so it’s about finding closure in the present time and never losing hope.

Compared to the other music you’ve released, what does this song mean to you?
This song is so different for me. This song is my first acoustic type song I’ve released probably in almost 10 years. It’s completely stripped and I honestly wasn’t looking for perfection. I left mistakes and imperfections in it because I didn’t want it to be like the rest of the music I’ve been hearing on the radio. I think there’s a beauty in imperfection and I wanted to show young artists that even people like me don’t have to do things perfectly. If it’s a song that means something to you, release it. Don’t hold a song until it’s perfect. It’ll never be perfect. You’re always going to look back and say I wish I did this differently, production, lyrics, vocal melodies and strengths, but that’s the point. You’re always going to be improving. Each song you release is not perfection, it’s a time stamp of the now. It’s where you were in that moment. So I told myself I’m just going to release.

What was it like to record the song?
It was a lot of fun. I worked with a guitar player in Philly named Kevin Hanson and he started playing a guitar melody that really brought so much reminiscent joy to my heart, I just grabbed a pen and went to work.

How did you come up with the concept for the music video?
I filmed this video actually in the same building that I filmed my music video ‘Alice‘ which featured Chloe Lukasiak from Dance Moms. I saw the room and I just thought it was so beautiful. I wanted the video to be simple, which is why it was only one location. And then I went back through my family’s VHS tapes. I had to buy a converter to get them uploaded and edited into the video, so it was a lot of work. A lot of back an forth between myself and the editor and videographer, Anthony Naylor to really make this video perfect! He was a champ! I’m pretty particular about things and he was super quick to really make this video the best it could be, and extremely supportive in bringing my vision to life and not quitting until it was right!

Is this single a part of an upcoming EP or album?
Haha – there’s a lot of things in the work right now. I currently have about three more singles ready to go. We’re all planning this game plan. Everyone will know what’s next very soon but as of now just a few singles.

What else do you have planned for this year?
I’m actually co-headlining the “Women’s Empowerment” tour with Nick Cannon and Flo Rida and a ton of other artists. The first date is in Houston on June 16th so I will be there! Get your tickets! I’m very excited for that! And I’m currently planning my next single release which is again a 180 from ‘Remember’. The song is just super cool. Hoping to try to pitch it to be in Stranger Things season three! We shall see!
