According to reports, the girls filmed the music video last month on May 10th. Speaking to Soompi, a source at the group’s label, YG Entertainment, told the publication, “BLACKPINK began filming their music video [today]. They took on a new genre and prepared for a long time, so please look forward to it.”
Shortly after releasing the statement, Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, took to Instagram to debut the group’s official fan light stick, which had many fans believing that the group would be releasing their first mini album, which turned out to be true.
“Square Up”, the follow-up to BLACKPINK’s “Square One” and “Square Two” EPs, will be released on June 15 at 6 p.m. KST and will be BLACKPINK’S first mini album. It will have four tracks, including “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Forever Young,” which the group will perform for the first time on the June 16 episode of MBC’s “Music Core.”
