BLACKPINK are back in our area!
Almost a year after the summer smash hit ‘As If Its Your Last’, the four-piece have returned with a BANG that has solidified them as a force to be reckoned with.
‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is layered with a tropical trap beat with prominent hip-hop undertones, a staple for the girls’ ‘BLACK’ concept. The single is spunky and addicting; keeping you coming back for more.
The line distribution is some of the best BLACKPINK have had, each girl is given her moment to shine and showcase why fans have patiently waited so long for this comeback.
Jennie and Lisa showcased their rap abilities to their finest. Lisa adapted a ‘Cardi-B’ rap style, effortlessly moving with the instrumental. Jennie had the clear standout moment from the title track, providing a fast-flow verse that hasn’t been seen from her before, and we are here for it!
Rosé and Jisoo’s vocals contrast each other perfectly. Whilst Rosé’s pre-chorus is soft and gentle yet powerful, Jisoo’s almost belting helps with the build of the song as each verse progresses to the next.
‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is by far the strongest single from BLACKPINK to date and proves that whilst they haven’t had a multitude of comebacks, they are consistent and a powerhouse that are easily able to be one of the top Korean groups, and maybe rise globally too if given the right opportunities.
