ITV last night came out on top in the ratings war.
Britain’s Got Talent made its return to our T.V screens on ITV 1, while the Voice UK final was being aired over on BBC 1.
The talent shows both started at 7pm, with BGT finishing 35 minutes before the Voice UK.
On average, ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent saw 8.1 million viewers tune in to the first episode of the new series, with a peak audience of 9.6 million, while the final of the Voice UK was only watched by an average of 4.5 million people, and peaked at 6.1 million.
The Voice UK final saw former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm being crowned champion, while over on BGT, judge Amanda Holden pressed her golden buzzer for 12-year-old singer Beau Dermott, after her stunning performance of ‘Defying Gravity’, the golden buzzer means that she is now automatically put through to the live finals.
The news that Britain’s Got Talent is still pulling in a massive audience even after 10 years will no doubt delight show creator Simon Cowell.
