With the much talked about release of their new duet ‘Mind Your Business’, Britney Spears and will.i.am deliver a defiant message to naysayers around the world who continue to dis-respect, and invade their privacy.
Over a decade since they first hit the studio together to workon tracks for Spears’ seventh studio album ‘Femme Fatale’ in 2010/2011, the duo dip back into their archives to revisit a song they initially collaborated on a few years back, inspired by a conversations about fame, and the overwhelming mass attention that often comes with it.
Set against an enigmatic and captivating beat, the singles irresistible hook and infectious energy, combine with will’s undeniable charisma and Britney’s unmatched attitude to create a fierce, electro-pop dance anthem that looks set to become one of the defining songs of summer 2023.
Speaking exclusively to Vogue.com Spears says of the song: “We worked on this track years ago, and it was time re-produce it and share it with my incredible fans. We went back and forth on making the song more current, and adding a heavy base and choir to it. It’s fun, campy, and edgy—a perfect song for the summer.”
With will adding: “Every single person, famous and not, has their privacy invaded in some shape or form in this digital age. It’s a sentiment for the times, so we should be more humane to each other, respect and have empathy for each other, and be thankful for what people choose to share publicly. If people don’t want to share, we need to respect their right not to share, and to have a private life.”
Serving as a prelude to will.i.am’s upcoming fifth solo album, the track follows the two artists’ collaborative 2012 triple-platinum selling single ‘Scream & Shout’, which became the first-ever No.1 song on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
