BTS have achieved a major feat this week. The band has become the first K-pop group to be nominated for Billboard Music Awards. The group has been nominated under “Top Social Artist” category.
The winners will be announced on 21st May.
Recently, Billboard announced BTS as the top artist under its Social 50 chart. Last year too, the band topped the category leaving behind artists like Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber.
The release of the album “Wings” saw a sudden surge in the popularity of boys amongst netizens, a lot of them being non-koreans.
A lot of firsts came for the band after they got their first ever award for “I Need You”. Be it the Deasang award or their position on Billboard charts, the boys have now got several records under their names.
BTS are currently on world tour. Their tour till now has been really successful, winning hearts all over the world.
The band has certainly brought K-pop on global scene. It remains to be seen if they will win the award or not.
