Finally, after having talked about it for over a year, and working countless months on this project, BTS’ J-Hope finally released his mixtape, Hope World on March 2nd, 2018 at 12AM KST (March 1st, 7AM PST).
The mixtape – also referred to as Hixtape – contains seven tracks, and is available to stream on the BTS Soundcloud, on iTunes, and on Spotify – it is also available to download on Google, MediaFire and Dropbox. The track, “HANGSAN” is the only track that features a collaboration – it features one of the BTS music producers, Supreme Boi.
J-Hope’s collaboration wasn’t a surprise, as RM and Suga have both worked with artists for their own songs as well. RM collaborated with Wale in his single, “Change”, while Suga featured Suran in the song, “So Far Away” on his Agust D mixtape.
Not only did J-Hope drop Hope World at midnight, but he also dropped a music video for the track ‘Daydream’ on the BigHit Youtube channel. Watch it below:
The first talks of J-Hope’s mixtape started in 2014, and in 2015 he released the track, “1verse” as a teaser to the mixtape. More talks of the mixtape occurred last year, and it was initially supposed to be completed and released in 2017. The late release of the mixtape is believed to be due to the busy schedule BTS had late last year following their AMA’s performance.
Prior to the mixtape’s release, J-Hope had announced the official release date for it on February 23rd (KST). Following this announcement, three teasers leading to March 2nd were posted on the BTS Twitter account. Soon after the announcement, ARMYs took to Twitter and trended ‘#HIXTAPEiscoming’ number one worldwide.
Congratulations on the release of #HopeWorld, J-Hope!
