BTS, Lady Gaga and Little Mix were just some of the artists who scored big at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

Picking up four awards – the most of the night – was BTS, with the K-pop boyband winning Best Song for their US number one hit “Dynamite” as well as Best Group, Biggest Fans and Best Virtual Live for their “Bang Bang Con: The Live” virtual concert. Not far behind is Lady Gaga, who snagged two awards: Best Artist and Best US Act.

Other big award winners include Doja Cat, who was selected as Best New Artist, while DJ Khaled won the coveted Best Video award for his song “POPSTAR” featuring Drake.

The show was hosted by Little Mix, who gave an epic performance of their hit single “Sweet Melody”, and also bagged the awards for Best Pop and Best UK and Ireland Act. Unfortunately, group member Jesy Nelson had to pull out of the event due to illness, but the other girls still did a fantastic job regardless.

You all did that!!! ? Thank you to everyone who voted for us to win Best UK & Ireland act and Best Pop ??? Love you all Mixers @mtvema pic.twitter.com/mQwe5Z1fXv

Other performers included Sam Smith, who was feeling themselves as they sang their latest single “Diamonds”, all while showcasing some of their finest dance moves. Alicia Keys performed a soulful rendition of “Love Looks Better”, and Doja Cat wowed us all with a rock version of “Say So”.

This year’s EMAs were a little bit different, due in part to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The show was held as a virtual ceremony, with the Little Mix girls superimposed onto an animated stage as they hosted from the UK, with all of the performances pre-recorded. Most of the artists who made an appearance during the event did so from their own countries.

There was also a number of presenters on hand to announce the winners of the awards, including Rita Ora, Lewis Hamilton, Big Sean and Barbara Palvin, who presented from her home country of Hungary.

Next year’s MTV EMAs will take place in the Hungarian city of Budapest, and we hope to look forward to a more ‘normal’ award show then.
