    It is safe to say the boys of BTS had a fantastic year in 2017 and it looks like 2018 is going to be no different. RM, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, V and Jungkook (b.k.a BTS) just achieved their first Gold record in America. This is a historical achievement for BTS as they are the first K-Pop group with a song certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

    Rapper Desiigner, who was featured on the ‘Mic Drop’ Remix alongside Steve Aoki, confirmed the good news via Twitter;

    MiiC DROP Went Gold ???????? @BTS_twt @steveaoki

    Although BTS have yet to comment on this major accomplishment, their fans took to Twitter and started their own trend. BTS’ fandom, better known as A.R.M.Y, started trending #MicDropWentGold to celebrate this incredible milestone and it has been trending worldwide. Here are just a couple of the tweets;

    We want to say thank you to all the radio stations that have supported @BTS_twt Mic Drop Remix! A huge part of this achievement stems from the impact radio has made on a mainstream breakthrough, downloads and streaming. @JJRyanOnAir @KissChattanooga @BTS_twt

    BTS have been breaking records all over the world and have become global stars in the process. They performed at the 2017 American Music Awards and won the Billboard Music Award for Top Social Media Artist, beating the likes of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. They are the first K-Pop group to achieve this level of success in the U.S. and are now looking forward to breaking more records as they are up for two iHeartRadio Music Awards.
    They are up for the Best Boyband and Best Fan Army awards and if they win either one or both of these awards they will have managed to achieve another first for a K-Pop group. The 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards will be airing on March 11th and we’ll be keeping our eyes on BTS and whether they’ll manage to keep exceeding our expectations.
     Congratulations BTS on all your success so far! We can’t wait to see what the rest of 2018 has in store for you!
