Seven months after the re-release of WINGS: You Never Walk Alone, BTS are back with their mini album Love Yourself: HER.
The lead single DNA is an EDM pop track that celebrates love and the feeling of being a youth in love, with the music video mirroring the track and a powerful dance routine.
Love Yourself: HER features 8 more tracks including Serendipity, which features vocals from member Park Jimin, and Best Of Me, co-written by the BTS rappers and Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers.
Tracks such as Pied Piper show off vocalists Jimin, Jungkook, Jin and V’s (Kim Taehyung) abilities, while MIC Drop proves why the rappers Suga (Min Yoongi) J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) and Rap Mon (Kim Namjoon) are highly respected rappers in Korea.
The album sticks to the group’s typical sound while also experimenting with EDM influences, punk and jazz elements in songs such as MIC Drop and Outro: HER, none of which are very commonly explored among other KPOP acts.
Rap Mon explained that the album’s concept is youths in love but also learning to love yourself. He further explained that they also feel the need to use their influence to continue spreading socially aware messages, as referenced in ‘Go Go.’
As well as this, HER is the first KPOP album to be distributed through global retailers Amazon, a major milestone for Korean artists.
Lead single DNA and other tracks from HER will be performed for the first time live on a MNET ‘BTS Comeback Show’ special, which will be live-streamed worldwide on September 21st.
Love Yourself: HER is available worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, KPOPTown and BTS’ official store.
