A year and a half after the original release, BTS rapper Suga has just released his debut mixtape ‘Agust D’ to Spotify and iTunes worldwide.
Suga undertook the alias ‘Agust D’ which derives from the initials “DT”, short for his birth place of Daegu Town, and his BTS stage name “Suga” spelt backwards.
‘Agust D’ was originally released on August 15th 2016 with music videos for the title track of the same name and ‘Give It To Me’ following swiftly. The mixtape tackled issues such as depression, social phobia and his struggles with fame. ‘Agust D’ received incredibly positive reviews and Fuse TV even named it one of the top 20 mixtapes released within 2016.
Suga, real name Min Yoongi, originally used Soundcloud as the platform for ‘Agust D’ to be streamed, however, over a year later without any announcement, the mixtape was slyly added onto Spotify and iTunes.
Since the release of his mixtape, it has peaked at number 3 on the US iTunes while also charting at number 11 on UK iTunes, an incredible achievement for an 18 month old release.
Suga is not the only BTS member with a mixtape to their name. Leader RM released his debut mixtape back in 2015, while J-Hope is in the final stages of completing his and is due to be releasing it any moment now.
