Calum Scott has thanked singer Robyn for ‘completely changing’ his life after being nominated for his first Brit Award.

Scott’s cover of the Swedish singers track Dancing On My Own has been nominated for the Best British Single.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat Calum said “for my rendition of the song to go crazy just speaks volumes about the track.”

When asked about his fellow nominees, Scott says it feels “incredible” to be in a category with the likes of Little Mix, Calvin Harris and Zayn Malik.

Calum first found fame back in 2015 on Britain’s Got Talent, finishing 9th in the series.

“The show finished in May 2015 but I carried on working hard, met my manager in September and we worked towards an EP.” Scott explains.

“He got me songwriting. Luckily I’m more of a songwriter than I thought.”

Revealing details of his debut album, the British singer said “it’s 90% done.”

“I’ve got some big ballad songs which are real tear-jerkers but I’ve got some upbeat stuff and some mid-tempo stuff that is a bit more like ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele sort of things.”
