Oh, how we’ve waited and waited and waited for this moment. We watched the young Carly Rose Sonenclar compete on The X Factor US in 2012, where she was mentored by Britney Spears and she went on to place second behind Tate Stevens. Now, seven years later, and after a couple of features on the likes of Boyce Avenue and Timeflies tracks, she’s ready to bring it in the music industry with the awesomely addicting song “Birds & Bees”.
Back in 2012, Carly Rose Sonenclar made an impact on the second season of the US talent show The X Factor. There, she was mentored by Britney Spears, alongside Bea Miller and Diamond White. Carly Rose went on to place in second place, although she did top the public vote during a couple of weeks or so. She may have been the runner-up to Tate Stevens, but she went on to place higher than the likes of Fifth Harmony and Emblem3. Her releases to-date include being on the Wonderland Broadway Soundtrack which was prior to The X Factor as well as releasing covers with Boyce Avenue which were “Counting Stars / The Monster” (originally by OneRepublic and Eminem featuring Rihanna) and “Say Something” (originally by A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera) as well as featuring on Timeflies’ track “Runaway” which can be found on the duo’s album Just For Fun.
Now we have her debut single, seven whole years after The X Factor US, and gosh was it worth the wait! It was premiered by Ones To Watch, and it is a sure-fire hit of a song, one that shows off Carly Rose’s incredible vocals but also her amazing control – she sure knows how to use her vocal instrument. Speaking about the track, Carly Rose said: “The song sets the scene for a night out with a bunch of people you don’t necessarily want to interact with, and one person you do. ‘birds & bees’ is about giving in to that temptation and forgetting about social expectations and graces.”
It’s so good to hear Carly Rose’s debut single and we are loving it from start to finish. The song’s beat reminds us of The Saturday’s album track “Anywhere With You” but stripped back, however, as soon as Carly Rose’s voice kicks in, all similarities disappear. Much like her performances on The X Factor US, her voice easily melts us as it hits our ears, only the seven years that have passed by has allowed her to grow and gain power in her vocal ability, yet we can still tell she doesn’t know how amazing her voice really is.
Lyrically, the song is strong and beyond catchy, with Carly Rose making you sing along to the chorus as the track comes to a close. She easily transports us into the story of the song allowing us to feel everything she is feeling in that exact moment. We’ve had this song on repeat for days, now, and we believe you will too.
“Birds & Bees” is available to download and stream right now, through RVG. More new Carly Rose music will be on its way soon. Also, look out for our exclusive interview with this incredible singer-songwriter which is set to be published in the next couple of days.
