Cassadee Pope has just released her new music video for “Summer,” the lead single from her new EP Summer.
Featuring Pope in a summer romance, her and her boyfriend frolic on beaches, play in the ocean, and go to a bar. Regardless of their surroundings though, they can’t keep their eyes (or hands!) off of each other.
The music video was filmed in Clearwater Beach, Florida. The song was written by Pope, Kelly Archer, and Emily Shackelton. It was picked as a single because it’s relatable, according to Pope. In a Rolling Stone interview, she said:
“Everybody can relate to a summer romance that was amazing and powerful but that ended pretty quickly and you have to move on. The thing that I love about this song is that we didn’t create a conflict when we were writing it. This isn’t about a cheater or him doing something wrong or leaving without any say. . . It’s just a summer romance that has to end at some point.”
Pope also gave a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the music video. She talks about the inspiration behind the video, and how it played out just as she imagined it.
