WHO
Dan Howell and Phil Lester are arguably two of the biggest YouTubers on the website. After first becoming friends in 2009, the two have been inseparable since. Phil started making videos in 2006 when he got a camera in a cereal box. He inspired Dan to start making videos in 2009. While both of their personal channels continued to grow, they launched a joint gaming channel in 2014. They wrote a book The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire, and then toured the world in 2015 and 2016. Their show, The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire, was released as a YouTube Red film, as well as a documentary of the making of it. Dan and Phil then released a photo book Dan and Phil Go Outside documenting their adventures when they’re forced to leave their apartment to do their stage show.
WHY
Dan and Phil are quite possibly the most relatable people on the internet (and that’s saying something). Phil spews literal sunshine, and Dan is the sassy best friend we all want. They have both worked tirelessly to get to where they are today. Dan and Phil never take their fame for granted, and always remember to thank their audience for providing such incredible opportunities.
Dan and Phil also support causes that they believe in. They did a video of the Blindfolded Makeup Challenge to support Red Nose Day in 2015. In addition, they released their song from Tatinof “The Internet Is Here” as a charity single for Stand Up To Cancer. Really, they’re just lovely, nice people.
