Here at CelebMix, we recently introduced you to Catherine McGrath, the young Irish singer and songwriter captivating people with her talent. She has already toured with several music artists, while also performing her own headline shows. Releasing singles such as ‘Talk Of This Town’ and ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me,’ she is no doubt destined for further success, with the upcoming release of her debut album and her own headline tour around the UK later this year.

Here at CelebMix, we had the opportunity to exclusively speak with Catherine McGrath about how she writes her songs, what can be expected from her debut album, and more. Keep reading to check out our exclusive interview!

Your debut album is out at the end of July. Are you looking forward to getting more of your original music released?

‘Yes! The songs on there are ones that have been written over the last two years, so it feels like I’ve been waiting a long time to share them.’

How do you draw inspiration for songs? Do you draw on real life experiences?

‘Definitely from real life. I write any lyric that I think of into my phone and when I get to the studio, we talk about them or we talk about situations and with the co-writers there, it becomes a lot easier to put situations and feelings into words and that’s how the songs happen.’

Can you give a preview of what can be expected from the album?

‘There’ll be some songs we’ve released before, but different versions of those songs, and some brand new ones too. Some of them were written in the UK and some in Nashville, so there’s a real mix of everything on there.’

    Who are your musical influences?

‘Too many to name but people like Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts. They are definitely huge influences.’

You’re also embarking on a headline tour around the UK later this year. Are you excited to get out touring?

‘I’m so excited! After doing my first few headline shows and seeing those sell out and hearing people sing all my lyrics back to me, I just want to do it over and over, so I really can’t wait for the tour in September.’

What words would you use to sum up your musical sound?

    ‘New country pop.’

You recently released the phenomenal music video to single ‘Wild.’ What was that like to film?

‘We got to film it in Nashville, which was the coolest part of it for me, because I love it there. It was strange, because I’d never done a music video like that, one that involves acting, but in the end we were just running around and driving around Nashville. I was having so much fun and absolutely loved it.’

Is there any achievement in particular you are striving for music-related?

‘My debut album is out at the end of July and that’s something I’ve been wanting to do FOREVER. Right now, my focus is on that and I’m so excited that it’s finally happening.’

If you were to collaborate with any artists, who would it be and why?

‘Rascal Flatts or Taylor Swift, because they were the first artists I discovered in the country world and I’ve loved their music and looked up to them for so long.’

Finally, do you have a message for your fans?

‘Thank you so much for loving my music so far and I can’t wait to show you my new album and hopefully see you on tour in September!’
