Dayl Cronin is best known for appearing as part of Irish boy band sensation HomeTown, who disbanded in 2016. He has since gone on to appear on the Irish series ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ opened up his own Dance Academy, and has now released his debut single ‘Runaway Love,’ an extremely uptempo track.
Here at CelebMix, we had the opportunity to exclusively speak with Dayl about his single, his time on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ what he has planned for the future, and more. Keep reading to check out our interview with him!
How does it feel to have your own music released?
‘It feels so surreal to have my own music. A full song that’s just of my voice, now that’s weird!’
What is your favourite lyric from the track?
‘My favourite lyric from the track would be: “You can run away, but you know my love for you is always gonna stay.” I feel everyone can relate to it in some way or another.’
Was it an easy decision making ‘Runaway Love’ your debut single?
‘It was a no-brainer. I listened to the first two seconds of the song and I just knew it was made for me and was going to be my first single.’
Who would you say are your musical influences?
‘My musical influences would be people like Jason Derulo, Ne-Yo and Michael Jackson. I love performing on stage and putting on a show for people. I also look up to a lot of rappers like Macklemore and Eminem too. I love to rap.’
What was your main reason for getting in to the music industry?
‘My main reason for getting into the music industry is because I love the whole aspect of it. I love performing, I love singing, I love releasing a song that people can relate to on so many levels. It is such a great feeling.’
How would you sum up your style of music?
‘My style of music is very dance-based/hip-hop. Dancing for me is always my first love and then singing is a very close second. I’m lucky I have the opportunity to express my love of dance-style music through my singing.’
You appeared on the Irish series ‘Dancing With The Stars.’ What was that experience like for you?
”Dancing With The Stars’ was an incredible and unforgettable experience. It really helped me to grow as a person, especially in confidence. It changed my life in a way too. It really helped me in the long run because off the back of ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ I set up my very own Dance Academy, which wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the help of the show.’
Since coming off the show, you have gone on to open up your own Dance Academy. Are you enjoying that venture?
‘I seriously enjoy dancing and having my own Dance Academy. Teaching kids and watching kids grow in confidence and their dance skills just brings real joy to me. The kids are truly talented and they teach me and help me week in, week out. My kids in my Dance Academy are truly incredible. I love what I do.’
What does the rest of the year have in store for you? Can we expect an EP or more singles?
‘The rest of the year has a lot in store, hopefully. I am planning big things. I can’t give too much away, but I am hoping to release an EP, potential album. Who knows what the future holds.’
Finally, do you have a message for your fans?
‘A message for the fans? How long do you guys have?! Honestly, if it wasn’t for them, none of this would be possible. I know every artist says that, but I truly mean it. I wish I had more time in the day to tweet and talk to them. They deserve so much more. I cannot thank them enough. I love them all.’
