Sophia Ali currently stars as Dr. Dahlia Qadri, a Muslim intern on “Grey’s Anatomy”. Her character has received a positive response from the audience and a part of the credit goes to her exceptional skills that is sure to move any viewer. Born in San Diego, Ali always had the passion for acting which soon turned into a life long goal.
In addition to her popular appearance on the show, she had a recurring role in Freeform’s “Famous in Love,” and feature film supporting roles in Universal Pictures’ “Truth or Dare,” and Richard Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some.”
Sophia’s character in “Grey’s Anatomy” has quickly become a part of the representation discussion in Hollywood as one of the few characters in television to wear a hijab and she has enjoyed shedding light on an important symbol that many people view as unfavorable. Growing up abroad as Pakistani-American, Sophia has a very personal connection to this stereotype and concern and is thrilled to see Grey’s Anatomy address the typical stereotypes of Muslims head on.
