An explosion shook a Chelsea neighbourhood in New York City last night (September 17th), injuring 29 people.

“Tonight New York City experienced a very serious incident,” NYC City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference.

“Whatever the cause, whatever the intention here, New Yorkers will not be intimidated. We are not going to let anyone change who we are or how we go about our lives.”

Celebrities have taken to social media to offer condolences to those hurt in the blast:

I am pretty near the site of the NYC explosion. NYC is calm. I only found out it happened because of Twitter.
