Poker Face is a mystery-of-the-week series starring Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, an unemployed casino worker on the run who possesses the extraordinary power to know when someone is lying – an ability she uses to solve murder cases and other forms of crime. Additionally starring are Benjamin Bratt, Simon Helberg, and Pedro Hollywood.
The first season has been a huge success, with critics having praised the show for its wit, charm, and delightful take on a familiar form. In fact, it has already been renewed for a second season shortly after making its debut.
Rian Johnson – who created and believes it could go further into subsequent seasons – expressed excitement about getting some big names involved with season 2. Co-showrunner Lilla Zuckerman hinted that some who were killed off could return as well, opening up the speculation. She cited how shows in the past, such as “Columbo”, managed to do it effectively, with the same actors playing different characters and roles. It may seem a little strange in the modern TV era, but boundaries are there to be pushed.
While there is no information about who could potentially be involved, it does not stop us from suggesting high-profile names that we would like to see!
Jennifer Coolidge
Jennifer Coolidge is known for her sharp wit and humor, which would undoubtedly add a fun and lively energy to the next season of Poker Face. Her outgoing personality and comedic timing would keep any episode that she stars in as engaging and entertaining for viewers as possible. Coolidge is perhaps synonymous with the role of Stifler’s mom in the “American Pie” franchise, but in 2023 she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. This would make her a huge star attraction for the show!
Steve Buscemi
Steve Buscemi is well-known for his quirky and unconventional characters, making him a great fit for the unpredictable nature of Poker Face. His ability to think on his feet and react quickly to unexpected situations make his performances on the screen among some of the very best, regardless of what show he has ever appeared on. If there were an episode he was cast for, a good scene idea could be him playing poker, and when a hand is revealed that was unexpected, he makes one of his incredible reactions.
Pedro Pascal
Pedro Pascal is an actor of great versatility who would bring something different and exciting to any show he appears on. His ability to portray complex characters makes him an effective opponent, while his natural charisma keeps the show entertaining and captivating viewers. Recently, Pascal has come into prominence thanks to roles on hit shows such as “Game of Thrones”, “Narcos”, “The Mandalorian”, and “Book of Boba Fett”; these successes could only serve to elevate their popularity further if they could enlist his services for their productions. He would surely take your show to new heights while drawing new viewers!
Allison Janney
Allison Janney’s talent for improvisation and quick thinking would make her a formidable opponent in Poker Face. Her ability to adapt to any situation and come up with creative solutions would make for an exciting story to be told, as Charlie looks to solve a case that involves the character that would ultimately be played by Janney.
Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza is a talented actress with a dry wit and a sarcastic sense of humor that would make her a perfect fit for the show. She also has on-screen chemistry with Natasha Lyonne, as they were cast as love interests in “Addicted to Fresno”. Additionally, she has made it no secret that she crushes on the lead actor of the TV series in reality, too.
