Céline Dion took to the stage on Friday night for Stand Up to Cancer, supporting the cause alongside many other celebrities.
She gave an emotional performance of her new single “Recovering” at the live broadcast and moved many to tears.
“Recovering” was originally penned by pop singer/songwriter Pink, who offered it to Dion.
Dion called Pink an “amazing artist” while introducing the song and explained what the song meant to her.
The poignant song is about the journey of finding yourself again after losing someone that you love.
Dion’s late husband René Angélil died at the age of 74 in January of throat cancer and her 59 year old brother, Daniel Dion also passed away just two days later due to cancer of the brain, throat and tongue.
Her father, Adhémar Dion, also died from cancer in 2003 at the age of 80.
“I miss René every day and the loss will now be a part of my life,” Dion said before her tearful performance.
She then went on to dedicate the emotional moment to all three men.
Pictures of Dion with all three appeared behind her as she sang.
Many celebrities were involved in the fifth annual special, including; Tom Hanks, Anna Kendrick, Ben Affleck, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone and more.
Bradley Cooper was also there as executive producer for the 60-minute live show.
He spent much of the evening introducing the action onstage while also offering his words of encouragement offstage to those who have survived cancer.
