Charli XCX takes a futuristic turn on ‘2099’ ft Troye Sivan

Charli XCX has always been at the forefront of the new pop revolution with her own unique sound. In a world full of cookie-cutter pop, she adds a special flare to each and every track that she produces, and her latest song ‘2099’ with Troye Sivan further confirms just that.

Serving as a prequel to their incredibly successful track ‘1999’, which was incredibly reminiscent of everything lovable about the 90s and became Charli’s first top 15 since 2015, ‘2099’ is arguably Charli’s most daring and bold song to date.

Throwing away the nostalgia they had in their previous collaboration, the duo turn to the future. Filled with the robotic synths, layered and dramatic autotune, a signature of the English singer/songwriter. ‘2099’ serves its purpose as a standout song, perfect for an album closer and we are completely obsessed with it.

The collaboration is taken from Charli’s self-titled third studio album set to be released this Friday (September 13th.) Prior to it’s release she has shared a few teaser tracks such as the incredible ‘Blame It On Your Love’ featuring none other than Lizzo, and the fantastic ‘Gone’ featuring Christine and the Queens. Her latest album is looking to be her biggest yet and we are so excited to hear it in it’d entirety.
