Talk about grabbing our attention.
On Monday, Charlie Puth surprised fans with a lustful music video for his latest single “Attention,” which dropped last week. In the visual, the 25-year-old is seen taunted by a crazed love interest. The couple’s relationship is rapidly dwindling down; however, feelings remain strong as they go from fighting to kissing.
The “We Don’t Talk Anymore” hitmaker recently spilled to Elvis Duran about a vulnerable part in the song (2:31 mark) that caught the radio host’s ear, telling Puth it sounds like he is having an asthma attack.
“I haven’t really told anyone this, but, screw it, I’m going to see you guys first. It’s not an asthma attack, I’m fine.” the Grammy-nominated singer revealed. “When I was recording the song, I was thinking about the person or the persons that might have inspired this song and kind of like what they did. I’m not going to say that I was balling crying, but I got a little emotional and I decided to keep the take.”
Many are speculating that the New Jersey native wrote the track about former Disney star Bella Throne. He was photographed kissing the actress back in December, while Thorne was rumored to still be dating Tyler Posey. Puth even went so far as to put out a public apology to Posey on Twitter.
You can hear more of Charlie’s new music out on the road this summer as he opens for good pal Shawn Mendes during the North American leg of his Illuminate world tour.
