Neo-soul/jazz/R&B singer-songwriter clo introduces her single and visualizer, “depth,” a song about accepting the pain and heartache of love yet celebrating the depth of human emotion.
Speaking about her music, clo shares, “This year, my goals are to release 3-4 more songs after ‘fantasy’ and ‘depth’ in succession with the ultimate aim of combining singles into an EP release and to explore new horizons by collaborating with other artists.”
clo arrived on the music scene last year, releasing her debut single, “room,” followed by “Big Smile.” “depth” follows on the heels of the wistful, poignant “fantasy,” revealing the blurriness between reality and imagination.
Talking about “fantasy,” clo says, “Through dreamy melodies and soulful vocals, ‘fantasy’ paints a vivid picture of a world where the boundaries between what’s real and what’s not become increasingly blurred, leaving the listener to question what truly exists in a relationship.”
Raised in Brussels, clo began classical training in piano when she was four years old. After years of preparation, clo is establishing herself as a musical tour de force. At the present juncture, she splits her time between Paris and New York, working on her music. In her spare time, clo works as a model and studies neuroscience.
clo’s sound mirrors her cosmopolitan background and is influenced by artists such as Snoh Aalegra, Tanarelle, Naomi Sharon, and Celeste.
Opening on emerging tones, followed by the entry of clo’s lusciously affecting voice, at once slightly raspy and seductive, “depth” shimmers and aches with alluring surfaces. A mid-tempo rhythm made up of taut percussion and a fat, round bassline imbues the tune with a sensuous gliding flow. Tinted with silky savors of jazz and neo-soul, the harmonics ripple and float on lustrous textures.
Gorgeously wrought, and highlighted by clo’s sumptuous voice, under exquisite lilting control, “depth” is amazingly superb.
