It was a night to remember for concertgoers who stopped by PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, for the Summer Road Trip 2024 tour.
As fans of all ages packed the venue for a special performance from three different acts, anticipation only continued to build as the night went on. The show opened with tons of energy from Yacht Rock Revue before REO Speedwagon took the stage to perform some of their top hits, including “Keep On Loving You” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling.”
Following REO Speedwagon’s final song, “Roll with the Changes,” attendees geared up for the show’s headliner, Train.
Train kicked off their set with fan-favorite “Calling All Angels” before addressing the crowd and thanking fans for their continued support over the years. The band’s lead singer, Pat Monahan, wasted no time interacting with the crowd and caught dozens of phones being thrown on stage before using them to take selfies with groups of fans. His stage presence was electric and captivated attendees from the front row all the way to the back of the venue.
The band’s set included all of their popular hits like “Play That Song,” “50 Ways to Say Goodbye,” and even an acoustic version of “Marry Me.” Train also performed their first ever single, “Meet Virginia,” as a mash-up with a cover of “Joker” by the Steve Miller Band as well as a cover of “Hotel California” by the Eagles, which they invited Yacht Rock Revue back on stage to help them perform.
The night concluded with an unforgettable performance of “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)” with a smooth transition into a cover of Bob Marley and The Wailer’s’ “One Love.” The band undoubtedly fed off the crowd’s energy from start to finish and Pat Monahan even revealed that New Jersey’s energy was “so much better than New York.”
