We have a brand new single from the Eurovision 2016 runner-up, Dami Im, titled “Crying Underwater”. This song is her first original solo release since 2016’s “Fighting For Love” which followed up her Eurovision song “Sound Of Silence”; although she teamed-up with Jack Jones on a cover of Southern Sons’ “Hold Me In Your Arms”, and she released a jazz album last year, titled I Hear A Song which she followed up with a Live Sessions EP in January.
Dami Im is a crazily talented artist who first made her name known for winning the fifth season of the Australian version of The X Factor. Run forward a couple of years and she ends up representing Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “Sound of Silence”; she placed second overall with Australia’s best result – 511 points. The song had moderate success internationally and she’s destined to become a global star. She dropped her fifth studio album, just last year, titled I Hear A Song which really showcases her as an artist. Her Live Sessions EP shows off her stage presence and her ability to engage with her fans. Now, she’s releasing new music and we are loving this new track.
This one has been written by Dami Im and Michael Tan, whilst it has been produced by Andy Mak. Alongside the release of the song, Dami Im has also dropped a lyric video. Once again, Dami Im has knocked it out of the park with an original song. Talking about the song on Instagram, Dami Im said: “This is a song that is so close to my heart… about how we hide our pain by putting on masks. I’m so excited it’s finally out! Thank you for your patience.”

Soulful throughout, Dami Im impresses – yet again – with her superb vocals and her brilliant ability to convey her emotions to the listeners of the song. This one track is highly relatable as we have all been in such a situation, and it takes a special person to actually see through the mask, or in this case, the water. It’s a strong story that is just even more powerful due to Dami Im’s vocals. This is another faultless track from this rising star, who deserves to be a global sensation.
“Crying Underwater” is available to download and stream right now. She promoted the track by performing the song live on the Australian TV show, Sunrise. On top of that, she has also been announced as one of the performers at the Asia Song Festival 2019 in Ulsa, Korea.
