Singer-songwriter David Mark Bulley is back with his brand new single ‘The Calm Before The Storm’.
Marking the beginning of a new era for the artist, ‘The Calm Before The Storm’ is David’s most personal and heartbreaking release to date. The track was inspired by events in David’s life which came to a head last summer, leaving him feeling worthless and lost, whilst also fuelling self-hatred towards his music and his own body.
Whilst the powerful ballad sees David questioning “How can I love, when I can’t love myself anymore”, ultimately the track is a hopeful anthem which reminds us all that we have the ability to find our own strength, even in the darkest of times.
Sing it one more time, this is the last chance to get it right
‘The Calm Before The Storm’ – David Mark Bulley
I’m only human, I gotta fight to survive
When the world world, when the world gives you a hundred reasons to cry
Show the world world, show the world a thousand reasons to smile
This is the calm before the storm
Speaking about the song in our exclusive interview earlier this month, David said: “The reason I chose this song to be the first I released for this new era is because it taught me about how precious life is. In that split second if I hadn’t have listened to that voice note [which encouraged him to start writing again], I have no clue where I’d be now.
“I want that to be something my fans can take away from this. That no matter how dark a place you can be in, there is always light at the end – never stop fighting. “

Upon its release, ‘The Calm Before The Storm’ peaked at number 14 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, a promising start for David’s new music.
‘The Calm Before The Storm’ is just a taste of what’s to come from David’s forthcoming album, which is due for release later this year. With more “heartbreaking, empowering, raw, passionate and honest” offerings on the horizon, 2019 is set to be the year for David to bare his soul and fully share his story with the world.
‘The Calm Before The Storm’ is available on iTunes and Spotify now.
