Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan took time off of their time off to take part in UNICEF’s Soccer Aid, a brilliant day where a match between two teams not only brings celebrities together for some sport, but raises money and awareness for children who need support, change, and the chance at a brighter future.
The Soccer Aid line-up consists of two teams: England and The Rest of The World and the most exciting part of this particular line up, for One Direction fans, is that Louis and Niall are on opposing sides.
While Niall’s knee injury prevents him from playing, he’ll be helping coach The Rest of The World team while Louis plays for the England team. There are many other big name celebrities who are giving their time and talent to the event, it’s going to be an exciting match!
The England’s team roster consists of Louis Tomlinson, Olly Murs, Damian Lewis, Mark Wright, Marvin Humes, Paddy McGuinness, Ben Shephard, Jack Whitehall John Bishop, Danny Jones, and Jamie Theakston. The football legends are Robbie Fowler, Jamie Carragher, Phil Neville, Sol Campbell, David Seaman, Jermain Defoe, Danny Murphy and Kieron Dyer.
Michael Sheen, Nicky Byrne, Sergio Pizzorno, Matthew Morrison, Iwan Rheon, Shayne Ward, Rickie Haywood-Williams, Sean Fletcher, Sir AP McCoy, Thom Evans and Patrick Kielty finish up the roster for The Rest of The World. The football legends are Ronaldinho, Cafu, Jaap Stam, Dimitar Berbatov, Edgar Davids, Samuel Eto’o, Fabio Cannavaro and Dida
Soccer Aid is taking place this Sunday, June 5th, but training for the two teams officially began today after they spent a night out having drinks and conversation with some football legends and there have already been photos from the pitch that show how serious those involved are. They show how much they are honored to be able to play a sport they love and help change lives at the same time.
There have also been some tweets, photos, and video that show happiness, pride, and some pranks from Louis and Niall that have made all of us smile larger than we have in a long time. Seeing both boys happy, doing something they love, and those around them just as happy is exciting – they obviously feel it too.
don't think I ever dreamt as a kid that one day I would be shouting names such as "Cafu " and "jaap" while looking for a pass or visa versa

While the anticipation and the boyhood dreams coming true tweets were absolutely heartwarming, perhaps the best moment we’ve seen today was Louis being officially initiated onto the England team with a prank that sent the lads, and everyone who saw the video, into the kind of laughter that brings tears to your eyes. Thanks, Olly!
