As well as this Carrie has also won many awards over the years. She has seven Grammys, five Teen Choice Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, fifteen CMT Music Awards, fourteen BMI Country Awards and seventeen Billboard Music Awards, as well as many others.
Carrie also has a devoted fanbase who have followed her career since her American Idol days. We caught up with Emily who runs @Carrie_UK to find out what it’s like to support her.
1. Can you briefly introduce yourself? State your name, age and roughly where you are from?
I’m Emily, 24 from Nottingham
2. Can you explain when and how you first became a fan of Carrie?
I became a fan of Carrie’s after seeing her on American Idol way back in 2005. It was the first series of the show I’d seen & became hooked on both Carrie & the show after that.
3. Why are you a fan of Carrie?
I’m a fan of Carrie’s for many reasons, but I think the main one is her integrity and class. I feel like Carrie doesn’t feel the need to compete with other artists & isn’t just trying to get attention by any means possible. She stands her ground when it comes to what she wants to do & relies on her talents I think that’s so refreshing right now.
4. What made you want to run a fan account about Carrie?
Being a fan from the UK, there was no way of knowing when Carrie was going to be on TV over here (albeit a real rarity back then!). I initially started the account just to let other UK fans know when/where they could see Carrie on TV here on things like American Idol or US award shows, but that quickly grew to me posting all sorts of news and updates.
5. Roughly how much time do you spend running your account?
That really depends on how much is happening. An average week will probably only be a couple of hours just posting links to articles and things, but if Carrie’s busier that means I am too.
6. Do you have anyone who runs the account for you if for some reason you are away?
I don’t. I usually continue to post myself even if I’m away on holiday, just not quite as regularly
7. How many followers do you currently have and do they talk to you/ask you things often?
The account has about 14,000 followers right now. They do! It’s always fun to get to interact with other Carrie fans. Usually when Carrie’s over here people ask me more questions about where she’s going to be & what she’s doing, which I can usually answer by getting information from her UK team
8. Do you prefer to just write updates (keeping it writing/informative based) or post pictures on your account?
A little of both, but I do try to keep things more informative than having lots of photos and different things going on. I have a personal account where I post more GIFs and things that are more my personal opinions. I prefer to keep the two separate.
9. Would you say that you have met any friends online through your account?
Definitely. Before I started I didn’t know Carrie really had any other fans in the UK, but now I know so many amazing people who love her as much as I do, not just in the UK but from across the world.
10. Has Carrie or any members of her team ever noticed your account? If so, how did it feel?
They have. Carrie’s tweeted and retweeted the account a few times and even mentioned it in an interview when she announced she was coming to the UK for the first time. It’s always a great feeling to know that she appreciates what I’m doing. Obviously I don’t do it just to get noticed, but it’s always a nice surprise to log in and see that she’s retweeted something. Carrie’s team have also acknowledged the account which has given me the opportunity to meet her on a couple of occasions, and I’m lucky enough to be in contact with her team when she’s in the UK which allows me to get news about her appearances right from the source.
11. What is your favourite Carrie song?
Ooh that’s a tough one! I have so many favourites for different reasons, but I’d have to say my two of my favourites are Good Girl and Something In The Water.
12. What is your favourite thing about Carrie?
I love her integrity. Carrie is just Carrie in every situation. She keeps it classy & relies on her talent.
13. If you could say one thing to Carrie then what would it be?
I’d say thank you. Being a fan has allowed to come into contact with some of the most amazing people (Carrie included), and I’d just let her know how grateful I am that she shared her talent and her life with us all for so long.
