Los Angeles based but Boston born and bred singer-songwriter Delilah Brao is a rising artist whose powerful music is relatable yet enigmatic. Her latest musical release is the autobiographical single “Over The Phone”. The song is off of her just announced debut EP Since You’re In New York due out next year.
“Over The Phone” tells the story of Delilah’s own experience with long distance love and a relationship out of reach geographically. The song chronicles the end of that situation with the lyrics discussing her ex love breaking up with her over the phone. She confides, “Over The Phone is about this guy I dated who broke up with me on FaceTime. The call only lasted 5 minutes, it’s like he fit it in between episodes of the series we were watching together. It’s grim. We dated for years. But, long distance sucks and the song kind of speaks for itself in that way.” This bittersweet narrative is packaged in a sweeping indie pop meets folk song. Delilah Brao’s blossoming warmly rich vocal tones impress with every note while atmospheric acoustic guitars entice.
Delilah Brao has garnered millions of streams in her short time as an artist. “Over The Phone” marks a musical shift for the multi-dimensional singer and writer who has begun to share music in the folk meets pop vein. The genre suits Delilah with her pastelle vocals and raw and authentic storytelling. Working with the likes of acclaimed producer Justin Lucas (Khalid, The Revivalists, Alec Benjamin, Wafia) and engineer Philip Etherington (Lizzy McAlpine, FINNEAS, Laufey, Tiny Habits), listeners are in for a real treat with her upcoming EP.
