Demi Lovato announces she’s 1% African, but fans are not thrilled

Demi Lovato decided to take a DNA and ancestry test and was thrilled to know that she is Spanish, Native American, Scandinavian, and 1% African.

The 24-year-old singer shared the news of her results on Twitter:

“I did a DNA test and found out I’m mainly Spanish, with Native American, SCANDINAVIAN (which I had NO idea), Irish, BRITISH….” Demi tweeted. She followed up with another tweet that said, “And I’m 1% African!!!!”

However, the popstar, who like many other stars, has often been the target of internet trolls. After her tweets, she received much hate for pointing out that she has a bit of African DNA in her.

At first, she thought people were being rude to her without reason, but then she explained herself after a fan made her understand the reason behind the mockery and hate she received.

“I also included the other nationalities. But I understand and respect your point of view and didn’t mean to offend anyone,” she tweeted to the fan.

She did, however, get some kind responses, while YouTube-star Kingsley defended her case:

What do you think? Was Demi wrong for tweeting it or was it totally innocent? Let us know, @CelebMix!
