Here at CelebMix, we love nothing more than discovering great new music, and today is no different. Today, we are taking a look at the indie rock band Arms Akimbo and their latest EP The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party.
Arms Akimbo is a four-piece Indie rock band based in Los Angeles, California, and is made up of Peter Schrupp, Chris Kalil, Colin Boppell and Matthew Sutton. The guys met at college and decided to put together a band inspired by artists such as Local Natives.
After the release of their debut EP Vignettes, the band found instant success and soon found themselves opening for Walk The Moon, The Muffs and Colleen Green. The band went on to work with producer Stephen Gomez recording various singles. One of these singles “Michigan” reached Spotify’s Global and Canadian viral charts. almost reaching one million plays.

Arms Akimbo’s latest EP The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party was released in February 2018. The band chose the name for the EP from a playlist they used to wrap up their parties with whilst they were in college. The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party features driving rhythm sections and exultant melodies, managing to seamlessly combine a perfect mix of indie rock, alt-pop and folk.
The EP features six songs – lead single “None of my Business”, as well as “Parachute”, “Velleity”, “Cedar Point”, “Seven Mirrors” and “Rearrange”. The lead single “None of My Business” has infectious guitar riffs, an anthemic chorus and a powerful drum beat to go. The song showcases a love affair full of desire and longing and the complications that go with it. Another track on the EP “Seven Mirrors” highlights Peter’s soft yet husky vocals, spectacular harmonies and complex songwriting.
