As mentioned before in our first article when we introduced He Is Me’s first single “Let It Drip,” the group is a collaboration between Portland based songwriter and musician/producer Casey Braunger and Calgary, AB based songwriter/vocalist Steve Moore. After each doing music starting at a young age separately, they’ve come together to release their first single together entitled “Let It Drip.”
Now, they have released a second single entitled “Drowning Man/Ocean Man.” The chilling song is actually two separate tracks meant to be heard as a single song. Pretty cool huh?
“He Is Me explores the beauty of the void in us all and what lies beneath with vast soundscapes, crushing atmosphere, gripping lyrical content, and pure emotion,” according to their Facebook bio. Some of their musical influences include life, death, pain, beauty, art, thoughts, as well as bands like Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy, and Tool.
With lyrics like, “The waters warm says the drowning man” and “I swim, swim, swim with the drowning man / cut into me blades if you can,” “Drowning Man/Ocean Man” is a psychedelic song for the mind to process.
