Here at CelebMix, we’re all for new music and discovering new artists. This time round, we are taking a look at ZANA with her sultry pop single, ‘Call Ya’.
Who is ZANA?
The ‘Call Ya’ singer-songwriter, ZANA is a versatile musician with sultry vocals which incorporate influences from different genres and cultures, such as Arabic and Latin. This creates her unique sound which she describes as ‘gypsy-pop’. The rising star has collaborated with Grammy award-winning producers Tim Mitchell and George Noriega, who have worked with big names in the industry such as Ricky Martin, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
What can we expect from ‘Call Ya’?
All of this is evident in ZANA’s latest single, ‘Call Ya’. The sultry pop track was released to be played on a long summer night thank to its tropical and easy-going vibes. It seems to be a contender for one of our Hidden Hits this summer, however, going off the view count, we are sure that’s not going to happen. The accompanying music video, which was released in February 2018, has already garnered over a million views on YouTube.

What can we expect from the ‘Call Ya’ music video?
The ‘Call Ya’ music video was directed by CBR Media, which exclusively premiered on Just Jared Jr ahead of its release. The music video was also shot in Lower Manhattan, NYC and shares the story of when things seem perfect, and then out of nowhere everything changes, leaving us feeling lost and confused.
Throughout the music video, we mainly see ZANA laying on her bed calling out her lover with lyrics from the infectious pop single. In particular, the phrase ‘got a lot of questions for you babe’ demonstrates a desire for ZANA to get in touch with the lover in question, this then inspired the title: ‘Call Ya’.
ZANA, who wrote the single herself, admitted: ‘It was such a long process getting the single to where it is now but writing this song was a serious wake up call for me in my personal life and my career.’
She also added, ‘I’m hella excited to share this piece of me with everyone and am so grateful to all the lovely people who were a part of it and who helped me get the video’s look and feel exactly to where I wanted.’
