Disney Studios has released another trailer for the new Aladdin remake, including clips of the renditions of the well-loved songs such as “Friend Like Me” and “A Whole New World”.
Not many people reacted positively to the first full-length trailer as conversations were dominated by the appearance of Will Smith’s Genie. The iconic character was formerly voiced by the late Robin Williams in 1992 but Smith has always been upfront about how this version would differ to Robin’s.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, the live-action movie features a script from John August (Corpse Bride, Big Fish) and stars newcomer Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and of course, Will Smith.
The newest trailer focuses on the relationship between Aladdin and Genie, giving fans a glimpse into their funny, bonding moments together. It shows Smith doing what he does best with various comedic quips and making a statement that he is making this Genie his own.
The original 1992 animated film earned $504m worldwide and won two Academy Awards. So, it will be interesting to see how this live-action version will stand alone against the iconic 1992 original.
Aladdin will hit theaters on May 24th, 2019.
