    2021 BRIT Awards: Dua Lipa, Celeste and Joel Corry lead nominations

    The nominations for the 2021 BRIT Awards are finally here – and it’s going to be a tough competition, with a whole host of talent across different genres all up against each other.

    Dua Lipa is one of this year’s frontrunners with three nominations for British Female, British Single for “Physical” and British Album for her second studio album “Future Nostalgia”.

    Garnering the same amount of noms is Celeste, who has been nominated for British Female, British Breakthrough and British Album for her critically-acclaimed debut “Not Your Muse”.

    Joel Corry has also been nommed in three categories – British Male, British Breakthrough and British Single for “Head & Heart” with MNEK.

    Following behind is J Hus who has been nominated for British Male and British Album for his sophomore effort “Big Conspiracy”.

    Meanwhile, Jessie Ware has also picked up two nods for British Female and British Album for “What’s Your Pleasure?”.

    The British Single category features a strong array of some of the most successful British singles released in the past year. Joining “Physical” and “Head & Heart” include Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar”, Headie One feat AJ Tracey and Stormzy’s “Ain’t It Different” and Nathan Dawe and KSI’s “Lighter”.

    While Celeste and Joel Corry will compete against the likes of Arlo Parks, Bicep and Young T & Bugsey in the British Breakthrough category, which highlights some of the most exciting new acts who have broken through to mainstream music.

    Little Mix have garnered their 10th BRIT nomination to date in the British Group category this year, up against the likes of Bicep, Biffy Clyro, The 1975 and Young T & Bugsey. This is also the girl group’s first nomination as a trio following the departure of founding member Jesy Nelson, who left in December 2020.

    K-pop boyband BTS have also achieved their first ever BRIT Award nomination in the Best International Group category, where they face off against Fontaines DC, Foo Fighters, HAIM and Run the Jewels. BTS are also the first ever Korean act to be nominated at the BRITs!

    Singer-songwriter Griff was also previously announced as the winner of this year’s Rising Star Award, with Pa Salieu and Rina Sawayama also nominated.

    The 2021 BRIT Awards will take place on 11 May at The O2 Arena in London, and will be broadcast on ITV. Comedian Jack Whitehall will serve as host for the fourth consecutive year.

    Dua Lipa and Griff are the first two performers confirmed, with more to be announced in due course.
