After the mammoth success of her ‘New Rules’ music video, we did have to wonder how Dua Lipa would ever be able to top the iconic masterpiece. However, she’s truly excelled herself with the video for her latest single ‘IDGAF’.
Directed by Henry Scholfield, the man behind the ‘New Rules’ video, the visual for ‘IDGAF’ sees two versions of Dua and her girl squad. The empowered side battle against the weaker team through a series of contemporary movements. Ultimately the two versions of Dua make peace as a symbol of self love.
The video carries a similar theme to ‘New Rules’ and showcases even more incredible choreography from the woman of the moment. We love how Dua delivers a strong message in her visuals, making them a talking point for the right reasons. With the visual currently trending #1 on YouTube, it’s proving to be the first strong contender for video of the year.

Speaking about the visual, Dua said in a statement: “It took us 22 hours to shoot… and with the best people and team, magic happens. This video is about your stronger and weaker side fighting with each other only to realise that self love is what will help you overcome any negativity that comes your way. I hope you like it as much as we have loved making it.”
Henry added: “We wanted to embody the sense of empowerment in the track, whilst going beyond the literal breakup context. We had in mind a visual of the internal struggle, showing the two sides of Dua’s emotive state, like an argument with someone you love. The strong Dua at first berating then eventually persuading her weaker alter ego that they both don’t give a f-ck.”
‘IDGAF’ is the latest track to be released as a single from Dua Lipa’s self-titled debut album and earlier this week, she unveiled the cover artwork. The song has proven to be a fan favourite especially during Dua’s live gigs as she puts on a memorable performance, dedicating the song to “all the f-ckboys who have done you wrong”.
Dua Lipa has an incredible year ahead of her, with a full schedule of tour dates for the first half. We can’t wait to watch her continuing world domination.
