After a 12-month hiatus that felt more like an eternity, Ed Sheeran is back and ready to fulfill a busy schedule. On Monday evening, the 24-year-old revealed to Capital FM that he has a lot planned for 2017, including a spot in James Corden’s passenger’s seat.
“There’s so many things I’m not allowed to talk about. On Friday I literally had my manager sit me down and be like, ‘Don’t talk about this, don’t talk about this’ so I’m really dodging,” Sheeran spilled.
“I’ve been in touch with James Corden about this for three years because he wanted me to do the first one [Carpool Karaoke] and I just wasn’t around and I can confirm that at some point this year I will be doing a carpool karaoke.”
The mastermind behind “Thinking Out Loud” wants his appearance on the popular segment to be different than the rest, admitting that he would feel a bit awkward singing to his own song.
“I think I will just want to put on some Biggie… Well I want to put on something really, like really awkward and dirty, like Biggie’s song ‘Big Booty’ and just hear James Corden sing along to that,” he shared.
Leave it to Sheeran to exceed our expectations. Last Friday, he dropped not just one, but two new songs. “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” have been completely dominating the charts since their long-awaited release. Both are a sneak peak of what to expect from Sheeran’s upcoming album, Divide.
Although this is the first time we have heard new music from the singer-songwriter since 2015, he is also up for a Grammy next month with credentials on Justin Bieber’s smash hit “Love Yourself.” The track is in the running for Song of the Year. Sheeran is rumored to be performing at the award show as well.
