For the fourth year running, Ellie Goulding has announced a headline charity show in support of Streets of London.
The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ singer will perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall on December 11, and will be joined by some very special guests. This is the second time that the event will take place at the iconic Royal Albert Hall and will give fans a one-off chance to see Ellie live, as she is currently busy working on her album.
Streets of London is a charity which aims to give homeless people the support they need to get back on their feet and make a fresh start. This year, the charity is funding twelve projects across the capital including a winter night shelter for vulnerable rough sleepers (that offers emergency accommodation and helps people to find longer-term housing) and a rehabilitation hostel for those recovering from addictions. They are also funding a life skills programme for young homeless people (that helps them to build self-confidence and independent living skills), and several employment support projects that help homeless people to look for jobs and then find and keep work.
Speaking about the charity, Ellie said: “Homelessness in London remains as much of a problem as ever. The number of people sleeping rough here has doubled in the last six years and increased by 170% in the last decade. It’s as important as ever that these people are able to access the right support, so they can escape the damaging effects of life on the streets.”
She added, “That’s why I’m proud to be associated with the charity and to be headlining this special event.”
Highlighting her work as ambassador for Streets of London, the charity’s Director Ian Steuart Fothringham says, “We’re thrilled that Ellie Goulding has generously chosen to support the charity once again to help raise vital funding for the homeless sector. Her appearances in support of Streets of London to date have helped to raise more than £230,000 and we’re very grateful for her ongoing commitment to supporting Streets of London and the homelessness cause.”
Tickets for Ellie Goulding’s show go on sale at 9am this Friday (November 3), will all proceeds going to Streets of London.
