16-year-old Valle Hope is a fast rising talent from Sweden who is ready to take over the world this Summer with the release of his brand new single ‘England’ on July 13th and his eagerly anticipated debut EP ‘Your Missed Calls’ on August 3rd. Hope will then tour the UK in support of his new music this coming August.
Here we review the upcoming five-track EP ‘Your Missed Calls’ ahead of its August 3rd release date:
The record opens with ‘Easy’ which has a thumping guitar beat similar to the riff found in Nick Jonas’ smash-hit ‘Find You’. Valle Hope’s vocals are strong and clear and its a great opening to the EP as it showcases his talents and gives us a taste as to exactly what artist the teenager is. It’s a catchy start and it has the potential to become a breakout single.
At number 2 is the lead single ‘England’ which is a folk infused pop hit that has shades of Ed Sheeran. I love guitar heavy music combined with story telling lyrics and this track perfectly marries those two together. It’s clear that Sheeran is an influence to Valle as this sounds like something from Sheeran’s back catalogue.
Up next is ‘Me and Myself’ which is another guitar infused track that has shades once more of Ed Sheeran but there’s also a little Shawn Mendes influence in this one. Valle Hope’s vocals also remind me a little of George Shelley and the combination is killer on this laid back track that is probably my favourite off the whole record.
At number 4 is the stunning ‘Trying My Best’ which is a gorgeous ballad that showcases Hope’s wonderful talents to the world. This is a real standout on the EP and this track really gives a taste of the real style of the teenager and for me has the most originality to it. It also features an insanely catchy chorus that will become a festival sing-a-long staple.
The EP comes to a close with ‘Friends’ which starts off with a melodic guitar tune before Valle Hope’s vocals come in a sweet understated way. It’s a beautiful song with poignant lyrics and it’s the perfect way to bring the record to a close as it leaves you wanting more.
RATING: 4/5
