Bulgaria have finally announced their representatives for Eurovision 2018 and it is none other than EQUINOX with their entry, ‘Bones’!
The Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be held on May 12th 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal – it’s so close now we can literally hear it! With most entries now announced and ready to compete, it’s about time Bulgaria came forward with theirs; their entry being EQUINOX with an upbeat track titled ‘Bones’.
Who are EQUINOX?
EQUINOX are a Bulgarian project, consisting of three Bulgarian singers (Zhana Bergendorff, Georgi Simeonov, and Vladimir Mihailov) and two American singers (Johnny Manuel and Trey Campbell.) There is not much know about the project prior to the recent announcement so we’re excited to see what they can bring to the Eurovision stage. That being said, it wouldn’t be the first time the Eurovision Song Contest has shocked or surprised us now, would it?
The lead singer of EQUINOX, Zhana Bergendorff, has been in the Bulgarian spotlight before by winning the 2013 season of X Factor Bulgaria. The now Eurovision Song Contest participant went on to release a catalogue of singles following her win, with one of the singles claiming the top spot of Bulgaria’s Singles Chart in 2015. After achieving commercial success, Bergendorff has now joined forces with two Bulgarian singers along with two American singers to form EQUINOX.
Do EQUINOX have a chance at winning Eurovision 2018?
With little known of the project pre-Eurovision, it’s too early to say. They have no singles prior to the song contest we can judge off but listening to their entry ‘Bones’, we’ll be waiting to see how Eurovision fans and critics take to the Bulgarian project.
In terms of previous Bulgarian entries, it certainly is possible. Bulgaria have unfortunately never grasped the winner’s title however EQUINOX could be the ones to change all of that. With last year’s entry, Kristian Krostov’s ‘Beautiful Mess’ going home as runner-up of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017; the ball is pretty much in EQUINOX’s court. All they have to do is put on a killer performance!
The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be hosted at the Altice Arena in Lisbon. The two Semi-Finals taking place on 8th May and 10th May 2018 with the Grand Final taking place on 12th May 2018. A total of 43 countries will compete in the contest.
