DJ Pebbles is a 19 year old Australian pop DJ and vocalist who is ready to take on the world with her feisty brand of EDM.

Having had an interest in music from an early age, Pebbles was born to be a musical star. However, her love for EDM, in particular, came during her final year of high school when she immersed herself in Brisbane’s club scene.

Pebbles spent 2015 writing and recording her own songs as well as learning the ins and outs of an S4 Deck. Then, during the latter half of 2016, she released her debut single ‘To Not Love You’, which hit the top 10 of the Billboard Club Chart.

Now, DJ Pebbles is back with her incredible follow up single ‘Heart Away From You’. As well as a thriving musical career, she is also juggling a completely different journey, as she attends college at the prestigious Tisch School for the Arts at New York University.

With brains, beauty and talent in abundance, DJ Pebbles is one fierce female who is determined to succeed. We recently caught up with her to discuss her new single, her love for EDM, balancing music and education and much more. Check it out below!

Hey Pebbles, thanks for answering our questions today! First off, how has 2017 been treating you so far?

It’s been a pretty wild year so far with lots of new projects on-the-go. But, besides freezing my Aussie butt off in NYC, no complaints.

You recently released your latest single ‘Heart Away From You’. What was the inspiration behind it?

‘Heart Away From You’ is the sequel to my first single ‘To Not Love You.’ I wrote it in the process of putting my heart back together after a bad break up. It’s about letting yourself love again after you lose hope in love.

The music video is both glamorous and dramatic – who came up with the concept, and what was the filming experience like?

I did, actually. I want my fans to feel the real me in all of my work, and that only happens when you’re involved in all the creative choices. I love acting, and I have always wanted to include storytelling in my videos. The action component complements the lyrics and fast-paced mysterious beat. It was such a blast because we got to do a lot of stunt work and the cast was the bomb.

Both of your releases so far have an EDM flair. What is it about electronic music that you love so much?

I love how it makes people feel. EDM has such a feel-good pump-up vibe and as a DJ, I love mixing and making EDM because there are endless possibilities.

Your moniker comes from a family nickname and a love for The Flintstones – we love that you’ve chosen something so sentimental! Was this an obvious choice for you when picking a name, or did you have other options in mind?

Haha I was so obsessed with the Flintstones that I wouldn’t leave the house without my hair in a bun with the bone, just like Pebbles. I knew my parents no longer found it cute when I was still wearing my hair like that at 14, so it was a pretty obvious choice for me. We played with other options, but nothing else was sentimental.

You’re managed by Randy Jackson. What’s he like to work with, and what’s the best advice he’s given you so far?

Randy is the best manger a girl could ask for. He is like a wise older brother who is always there to give advice. I think the best advice he has given me would be to be honest and real in your work. Authenticity and truth is the only way to find your sound.

You’ve already experienced success on Billboard’s Club Chart. How does it feel to know that your music is being well received?

It’s the most exceptional feeling when your art can touch people in some way and make a little bit of a difference in your fans’ life.

You’re originally from Brisbane, Australia but now reside in New York. How have both cities influenced you musically?

New York and Brisbane are two different creative worlds. Brisbane is my home. It’s where I grew up and realized I loved performing, but it is not a place of work for me. NYC is my workplace. It’s where I hustle to polish my skills so that I can achieve my dreams. I treat NYC like an office and Australia like my playground.

As well as launching your music career, you also attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. How do you find balancing both?

I’m not going to lie, balancing the two is practically impossible. Free time and sleep no longer exist, however I love being busy and it’s pretty amazing spending every hour of every day working on what you love.

Stepping away from music for a second, we hear you’re a big lover of fashion. Who are your favourite fashion inspirations at the moment?

I love the combination of high fashion class and edgy casual, so my favorite fashion icons would be the Hadid sisters and Hailey Baldwin. I love finding that balance.

What’s the dream goal for you as an artist?

My dream goal is for my music to make a difference in people’s lives. If it brings comfort, joy, or clarity to my fans I have achieved everything I dreamed of.

What does the rest of the year have in store for DJ Pebbles?

Lots more music, planning some live dates, and another single late Fall. It’s going to be big!

Thank you to DJ Pebbles for her time! Keep up to date with her on Facebook, Instagram and Soundcloud.
