Sammi Sanchez is a Latina pop princess who we know you’re going to love.
The young star began her career by uploading covers on YouTube, which have now amassed over four million views. She was later spotted by American Idol judge Randy Jackson, who signed Sammi to his team. With incredible support on her side and talent in hand, Sammi is destined for big things.
Having already released a few tracks, Sammi is ready to take the world by storm with her new single ‘Deeper’. The catchy summer offering shows off her Latin roots as she sings in both Spanish and English, proving that she is both a versatile and current artist.
We caught up with Sammi to talk about ‘Deeper’, working with Randy Jackson, how to deal with bullies and much more.
Hey Sammi, thank you for answering our questions today! How has 2017 been treating you so far?
Hi there, thank you! 2017 has been amazing so far, I can’t wait to see what else it has in store for me.
Let’s talk about your new single ‘Deeper’ – what’s the inspiration behind it?
‘Deeper’ was inspired about a feeling I had when I saw my ex at a party. He always knew how to make me feel deeper.
What was the writing/recording process like?
Writing and recording is one of my favorite parts about music – that’s when everything comes to life. It’s awesome to be able to come up with lyrics to tell a story or to emit an emotion. It’s always a fun process to be in the studio!
Are there any plans for a music video? If so, what can we expect from it?
We have a lyric/visual video coming out very soon. You can expect lots of colors :))
We love that you sing a lot of the song in Spanish! How does it feel to be able to share your Latin roots in your music?
I love being able to sing in Spanish and to share my Latin roots in my music. I love that the sound is so universal that anybody can get up and dance to it.
How did you get into singing? What’s your first musical memory?
The first time I sang on stage I was about 10. It was in my school talent show and I remember being terrified. After the show ended I realized the love I had for music and performing because it gave me such a rush while on stage.

You’re mentored by Randy Jackson – what’s he like to work with, and what’s the best piece of advice he’s given you?
Randy has been so amazing to me, I’m so happy that he’s a part of my team. Randy has so much insight on the music industry as well as great advice. Randy has always said to stay true to myself and to make the music that I wanted to make. That’s something that will stick with me throughout my whole career for sure.
Who are your top three musical inspirations?
My top three musical inspirations would have to be Rihanna, JoJo and JLo!
As well as your music, we love your fashion sense! Who’s your number one style icon?
Thank you so much! I look for style ideas everywhere. I don’t think I have one person that I really look up to, I kind of just get inspiration from everywhere. Usually I’ll end up on Pinterest and see a bunch of outfit ideas and make my own!
Growing up, you went through a tough time with bullies. What advice would you give to anyone in a similar position?
My best advice for dealing with a bully is to be the bigger person. It will always bug them that you never let them get to you and that they can’t bring you down. Of course words hurt. Don’t let anyone bring you down and surround yourself with people who make you feel good and who lift you up instead of tearing you down.
Can we expect an album from you this year?
Hopefully lots of new music this year! I have so much recorded music already, I can’t wait for you guys to hear!
What else do you have planned for the rest of 2017?
Hopefully we can get some tours this year and travel around a bit, that would be so fun :) stay tuned for new music!
