Tyler.V is the sultry RnB artist that you need on your radar. After bursting onto the music scene earlier this year with her debut single “Young & Free”, she has already proven that she is a force to be reckoned with.
Showcasing effortless vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, there is no denying that Tyler.V is extremely passionate about her craft and is ready to share her talent with the world. We’re already counting down to the release of her debut EP Unlocked which is due to drop next year.
We recently had the opportunity to quiz Tyler.V all about “Young & Free”, in addition to what the future holds for her.
You released your debut single ‘”Young & Free” earlier this year. How did it feel that people could finally get to hear it?
Really good! I always wanted to release this song around summer time. I wanted to show people my fun side.
When and where did you write “Young & Free”?
I usually write on the go, like on the train when I’m traveling in-between places. For this song, the lyrics came to me on my way to the studio.
Could you tell us what inspired this track?
This song is not about one particular event, but rather inspired by all the times my friends and I got together in college or when I threw one of my house parties. I’m a very social person and I like to see people have a good time.
How would you describe the feeling of being young and free?
It’s really an anthem. Sometimes we can get stuck in a daily routine and forget the very things that make us feel alive and present. For me, being spontaneous and trying new things is how I stay Young and Free.
Oh, and we heard that the video for “Young & Free” was your very first official video. Please, tell us about the experience!
Yes, it was! It was really great. The team and I felt really accomplished after shooting it, since it was everyone’s debut project together. I invited all of my friends and supporters to the shoot and threw a rooftop party. It happened to rain earlier in the day so that was a little bummer. But it stopped eventually and we all had a blast. No one wanted the party to end once we finished shooting.
What was the most exciting thing on the shoot?
The black light! It gave a nice touch plus the view of Manhattan is amazing from the rooftop.
Singing has always been a part of your life – but, could you imagine another path for you?
Not really, I always knew I wanted to be an artist from a very young age. People always told me to have a backup plan and at one point I almost considered going to school for science, but my heart strings always pulled me to go with the music. And that’s what I did.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
My debut EP Unlocked comes out in 2018. It’s actually very different from “Young & Free.” The songs show a more vulnerable side to me and I talk about real personal experiences.
