The level of success continues to increase with each piece of content. With millions of followers across social media and streaming platforms, Emily Vu has already established a powerful fanbase around the world. Her bubbly and outgoing personality has caused her to shine on a plethora of online platforms and connect with listeners and supporters globally. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Emily Vu opens up about “WEEKEND,” fans and more.
What can you tell us about your brand new single “WEEKEND” and the inspiration behind it?
My producer friend SZNS and I were in a session and going through YouTube beats for inspiration and we came across a really pretty guitar beat and decided to recreate it. At the time, I was going through a little heartbreak myself…so writing the lyrics was fairly easy.
How does the vibe of this track differ or relate to your recent single “Make Up Your Mind” sonically and lyrically?
The whole vibe of “WEEKEND” is definitely different from “Make Up Your Mind,” in my opinion. I think the production on “WEEKEND” makes you feel something that really sticks with you. Lyrically, this single gets me in my feels.
If you could feature another artist on “WEEKEND,” who would it be and why?
If I were to feature another artist on “WEEKEND” I’d want it to be blackbear. I’ve been such a long-time fan of his. I think this could be a track he’d really enjoy being a part of.
You have an impressive following across streaming and social media platforms! What do you love most about having that support system?
I love that I’ve been able to be real with my supporters and listeners and I’ve made it where my lives and DMs in general are a safe place for them.
What advice would you give to someone who looks up to you and aspires to have a career similar to yours?
I’d say to not be scared to put yourself out there for the world. If it’s something you’re really passionate about, you should chase it.
Are there any artists or bands that you have been listening to lately during the global pandemic?
I’ve been listening to Lauv’s newest album repeatedly and also a lot of LANY!
What else can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
I’m currently working on putting together an EP. After that release, I’d definitely want to do live shows.
