Female electro pop duo, HANNIE, have returned with their latest anthem, ‘Drama’.
The tune features writing duo and band, Hicari, and rapper, Isaiah Dreads – who is best known for his BBC Radio 1XTRA’s Fire in The Booth.
Acclaimed MC, Isaiah, raps over the track, creating a new Middle 8.
The tune was co-written by Hicari, and co-produced by musician, Embody.
HANNIE consists of keyboard player, Hannah Koppenburg, originally from South Germany, and guitarist, Annie Wagstaff, born in Surrey.
The dynamic duo came together and began uploading videos of their beautifully unique sound to YouTube and Instagram.
They have now gained over 290,000 followers, releasing four singles within a year.
When explaining the meaning behind the song – which is about toxic relationships – HANNIE stated: “The song is about breaking up with someone who then goes and gets in a new relationship pretty quickly and throws it around in your face.
“They are clearly not good for each other but at the same time suit each other perfectly.
“It’s one of those situations when people thrive off the drama in their relationship.”
The duo have received support from the likes of Wonderland, Earmilk, The Line of Best Fit and BBC London.

CelebMix got the chance to chat to HANNIE ahead of their upcoming single!
Hey girls, so tell us a little bit about how you two met!
We met on the first day of Uni, we were the only girls on our courses so we just HAD to be friends! We didn’t start our band for a while though, we never thought we could as we were just instrumentalists but after we’d put up a couple of videos of us live-looping, people started following what we do and asking when we’d release our original songs so we started writing and making this a thing. Best decision ever, we’re having so much fun doing music 24/7, writing and producing all day long! Couldn’t think of anything more fun!
What is your favourite thing about your latest tune with Isaiah Dreads & Hicari?
I think this one is just particularly fun because it’s such a collaborative song! We wrote it with Shai and Ryan (Hicari) but then Isaiah came up with the rap and Embody did the Co-Production. And all the time we just had so much fun in the studio and such a good time! I think that’s always so important and tells you so much about the song. If it makes you feel good it’s likely to make everyone else feel good and that’s what we want to get across with our music!
If you could collaborate with any artist/producer, who would you choose?
That’s such a hard question, there’s so many people we’d love to work with! But I guess if it could be anyone we’d love to work with Julia Michaels, she is just such an insane writer and her voice is so cool. As a producer it would be mad to work with Calvin Harris! He’s a bit of a genius and always creating so much new stuff!
So where do you see yourselves at the end of 2019?
Hopefully *fingers crossed* we’re in a place where we have released a BUNCH more songs and played a lot more live shows! We’d love to go on Europe tour this year, there’s so many places we want to play!
A tour is on the cards then?
Haha, that’s literally SO planned! We’ve just got back from a rehearsal and have a couple of live shows lined up but going on tour would be amazing, especially also to meet all the people that keep messaging us on Instagram! We’d love to make it possible and play wherever we can!
