Connor Finnerty, one of the top hip-hop dancers in the country, is a triple-threat as well as a social media influencer. His debut single, ‘A Million Degrees,’ was released in early 2019 and captured listeners around the world. Between acting, singing and dancing, Finnerty is definitely someone to keep your eye on. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, he opened up about his passions, goals and more.
You are one of the top hip-hop dancers in the country! What inspired you to start
dancing?
Well, first of all, thanks for the kind words. There really wasn’t one thing that inspired me to dance. I remember as a young kid, I wanted to entertain my parents and my sister, so what I would do is put on a show in our living room or backyard and dance
to Michael Jackson songs or other songs. Funny story, I would put a blanket on my head and swipe it away as if it was a curtain. I’ve always loved music, so when I was 9 years old, I started taking dance classes and after that, I was hooked.
What can you tell us about your debut single ‘A Million Degrees’ and its overall
message?
My latest song, ‘A Million Degrees,’ is about a guy (me) trying to express to this certain someone how I feel when we’re together. The song isn’t about any one person, but there was a person who came into my life when the song was released, and
I felt like this song was about her then.
Since you are a triple-threat with many talents, do you have a favorite passion out of
all of them?
I really don’t have a preference because singing, acting and dancing all fill a passion. I love music, and I love expressing myself in singing and acting. Only four years in, so I’m just getting started. Ask me that question in five years and you might get a
different answer!
What are your goals for the rest of this year?
Honestly, I have one major goal and it’s to book a big acting job. It’s the one goal that has eluded me so far in my four years in LA, and I keep hearing [that] it’s just about timing, luck, and the right role at the right time. I’ve had little jobs, but I’m talking about a major role. Fingers crossed!
If you could spread one message to your followers, what would it be and why?
My message to followers of mine is to be kind to each other. Ditch the negativity and the online bullying.
Who influences and inspires you in the music or entertainment industry?
Without question, the people who have inspired me the most include: Justin Timberlake, and he’s at the top of the list. He’s a triple-threat, but he’s a good guy too. I would have to
say Derek Hough, plus others like Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Tom Hanks and so many others. Those are the ones that come to mind.
What can your fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
I plan to release two new songs and music videos to go with those songs. I can’t give many details right now, but this summer I’m going to be working with Nick Cannon, so stayed tuned on that. I’m sure I’ll do some dance jobs too.
