Curtis Grimes is a country singer who hails from Texas. His new single ‘Right About Now‘ has been a huge success in his native home, having held the number 1 spot for two consecutive weeks on the Texas Regional Radio Chart, and it is also one of the top-five most streamed Texas/Reed Dirt singles on Spotify. So far the track has been streamed over 600,000 times.

The hit release was co-written by Grimes and renowned producer Trent Willmon – who has worked with some of the biggest names in country music including the likes of Little Big Town, and Cody Johnson. The track has been taken off Chris Grimes’ latest album ‘Undeniably Country‘ and follows the single ‘From Where I’m Standing‘ – this song was written by fellow country music stars Thomas Rhett, Chris Janson, and Jaron Boyer.

And now, ‘Right About Now’ is starting to gain airplay on a various UK stations including a number of BBC regional country music shows. And British fans will be able to catch Curtis live next year.

    Here we speak exclusively to Curtis Grimes about his new single, country music in the UK, upcoming tour and lots more;

Growing up who inspired your love of country music?

    Alan Jackson & George Strait.

When did you realise you wanted to pursue music as a career?

I got into playing guitar and writing songs in college.

The country genre is now starting to boom in the UK as well, how excited are you about the acts coming out of Britain at the moment?

It’s awesome to see guys like Ward Thomas popping up on radio and playlists here in the US!

With that in mind, do you feel the US are ready to embrace UK acts such as Ward Thomas and The Shires?

Absolutely, it’s great to see country music growing all over the world.

Your touring the UK next year, how excited are you about performing to British crowds?

It has always been a dream of mine to go to the UK, it will be an absolute honor to get to share my music there as well.

What can fans expect from your live shows?

A good time! We try to have as much fun as possible and leave fans with a reason to want to see us again. We play a lot of dancing songs too!

What is the main inspiration behind your new release ‘Right About Now’?

Trent Willmon and I wanted to write a fun, upbeat song about a guy that needed to swallow his pride!

Can fans expect a new album from you soon?

I’m planning on recording a gospel/worship album soon, but we will be back in the studio next year for the follow-up to ‘Undeniably Country’.

What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?

To grow as an artist and writer, and to continue what I have been doing without sacrificing my integrity or changing my direction of where I think country music should be.
