SACHI, an upcoming electronic duo, has been catching the attention of thousands ever since they officially formed the group back in 2015. After receiving co-signs from Diplo and Zane Lowe, the two producers from New Zealand have been making their mark on the music industry and since relocated to Los Angeles.
They recently concluded opening up for Phantoms this fall across North America as their fan base continued to grow from show to show. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Will Thomas and Nick Chrisp, better known as SACHI, opened up about touring, music and more.
How did you both get started with music?
We started playing in bands together when were eight or nine years old – then got introduced to electronic music in our early teens and the rest is history!
What inspired you to choose the name SACHI?
Funny story – when Nick was thirteen he went on a white water rafting trip in rural New Zealand. The man who owned the rafting company had a dog called SACHI. One day, they were out on the rafts and upon return SACHI was missing… never to be seen again. That’s where we got the name – plus it sounds nice.
What would you like new fans to know about SACHI?
We’re surprisingly good chefs!
How was it to tour with Phantoms recently?
It was amazing – it was the first time we had been to those parts of America and Canada, so traveling everyday was like sensory overload. The shows were all so fun and we met so many rad people along the way. We can’t thank the Phantoms boys enough for having us!
Did a particular city or tour stop stand out to you guys?
There’s something about New York City which is just always a good time – plus we had a lot of friends at the show. Los Angeles was really special too!
Your remix for Lorde’s “Green Light” blew up! How was it to see that track redone become loved amongst so many?
It’s been crazy! We get messages all the time about people that are still discovering it. It’s still very surreal that Lorde was into it. She’s such a treasure!
What can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
New music! We’re so excited to share everything we’ve been working on.
